What does your Therapist REALLY think?!

My work is my Eden. It really is. I absolutely love my job, in particular my role as a Therapist. I cannot vouch enough how important this love is. As a Therapist it is a necessity to feel that love, in turn portraying itself through the passion you put into your daily work ethics. Without this purified love, we simply could not call ourselves Therapists. I want to share with you beauties my four most treasured cornerstones to being a Therapist.


When I referred to my work being my Eden, I mean’t my Xanadu. Almost everyday we go to sleep and wake up to the thought of our place of work. Why have thoughts of anything other than a place of great beauty, luxury and most importantly, contentment. Traditionally, the decor in your workplace will be a thing of both beauty and luxury to satisfy both the sexes and touch on the parasympathetic nervous system by causing no harsh offence. This creating a feeling of warmth and happiness, or so we would hope! Let’s face it, the human eye is naturally more attracted to all things of the picturesque aesthetic. Finally, contentment. That waking up and realising that you are happily accepting your workplace with a spring in your step rather than feeling too heavy you cannot simply get out of bed and face another day’s work.

Once you have that appreciation for your workplace, it becomes a pleasure, your Xanadu rather than a place you would prefer to avoid should you have the choice.

Find your Xanadu.


As a Therapist, I am always inviting all things of the relaxing nature to surround me and equally those around. In absolute, I want you to feel at ease as soon as you walk into the room. This may sound simple yet so many people hold their guard up as if to protect themselves from us Therapists. Sometimes, clients even begin to judge and make assumptions of things such as the therapist, the environment and treatment without actually having any understanding of this. For example, some people will have a bias opinion of the strength and skill of the therapist before the treatment has initiated. The erroneous of this presumption couldn’t be more misconstrued, and can often be quite discouraging for the Therapist. We offer an open and pure environment where no judgement is passed and simply give you the chance to relax in our space.

* The more of a closed book you approach us with, the less we can do our upmost best for you in fulfilling your treatment. It is the key to a personalised experience in your journey. Wherever that be to make you feel better, act as a pick me up or help alleviate physical ailments. It is important to help us, help you.*

I always wanted a job that encouraged a sense of calm within. Being a therapist allows me to do just that. Returning home without a feeling of bringing those day-to-day stresses of work back with me, inevitably taking these stresses out on loved ones back home. This is something I value greatly.


Often it is the clients who come for therapy who actually take on a lot of burdens themselves. Perhaps it is that they manage a team of colleagues, a family relative is in care, a lurking sense of grief, or maybe they have had to under go physical abuse or strain (operations in some cases). The list of burdens is literally endless. I admire people for actually seeking some form of therapy in the first place for this very reason. The courage that it takes is actually more than we care to acknowledge. A complete stranger basically offering to help you, through the means of complementary therapies. We are there to take care of you, forget about everything back home and be your Therapists welcome burden! It is your sacred space, try to take advantage of this and listen to the attentiveness expressed by your Therapist.


My fourth cornerstone stands for continuing professional development. I love this because it’s what certifies us as a Therapist. As times change, so do the regulations behind the original training. If you speak to a Therapist who graduated back in the 70’s, guaranteed the foundations of their knowledge with be spot on to those just graduated however, legislation will have changed and been slightly updated since then. I love learning new things about what I do and thrive off the sharing of knowledge through other professionals. It’s how we evolve to create the ‘BEST OF THE BEST’. If you have you a Therapist who is open to learning and sharing their own knowledge with you regarding all things including their own work.. then you’ve got yourself a great Therapist.

And there we have it! My four cornerstones to being a Therapist. I am sure this read was slightly unexpected and eye opening for some of you, but I hope you have a better understanding of how your Therapist might feel.


Perks of the Pug

Lounging around like a couch potatoe, stalking your every move, and the inevitable pug butt tuck. Just three of the renowned characteristics I have learnt about my best friend Bruno. Pugs, are quite honestly such a glorious choice of dog to have as your companion, they bring such a sense of joy, sure they come with the odd temper tantrum, but hey wouldn’t you if you were sent to bed early for stealing a piece of chicken off your mummy’s dinner plate?!

That’s another thing, they can be quite mischievous. You’re best off having one eye on the task at hand, and always one eye on your pug. You may think he’s stood underneath you gazing up at you like he usually does.. but before you know it he’s running down the stairs with a toilet roll in his mouth!

Your companion..

One thing I love most about my pug, is his undeniable reliability to always be by my side. When you’re cold, he’s there to squidge. When you’re lonely he’s there to play with and make you chuckle.. and trust me they make you laugh! If it’s not their straying left eye, it’s the constant grunts and groans. Something is bound to tickle your funny-bone!

Endless energy

Pugs in particular are a very enthusiastic breed. They will always be peering round the corner watching you, or beneath your feet as you make your dinner. ( especially when you are eating your food, they will stare you down! ) They have a tendency to make anything you do a big deal! I cannot take the rubbish out to the bins without him coming along with me like it’s a fun day out. But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.



They love it! Bruno could eat for the country. I’m really conscious of not giving him foods that are bad for him as I don’t like him to have an upset stomach, but he does love the odd treat beyond his usual dry food. Bruno’s day to day diet consists of Symply Small Breed Lamb and Rice and it works wonders for his digestive tract. His favourite treat is fresh chicken, put that in his bowl and it will be gone in the blink of an eye!



Like many other breeds, they all come with their anatomical problems ( as do us humans , not everyone is the same, even structurally ). Pugs, Shiz Tzus and Bulldogs are just some of the squashed nosed breeds who fall into what’s technically referred to as the Brachycephalic category. For this reason it is important to acknowledge they will always be under some respiratory distress, this you will adapt to and simply change your awareness of your little puggle. Be sure to let your pug be free to a cool/shady spot to rest in the summer, especially after a long walk, they can get very over-heated! When they meet other dogs, be mindful of how excited they become as it can encourage reverse sneezing ( often associated with removing dust particles from the nasal cavities however also prone through periods of over-excitement) with your pet. Also because pugs have a small skull, in turn their head to neck ratio is non existent so they have a little more skin to compensate for this lacking of formation. They often have what’s commonly known as pug rolls, where they have many skin folds, particularly prone in pugs with more fat on them. Facial features become very mushed together and they have wrinkles that need to be cleaned often to avoid any infection. Brachycephalic breeds can have consequences with the eyes too due to the decreased depth of the orbit, which can make the eye seem like it is protruding. Depending on your pugs severity, this is something to be aware of. Regular cleaning of the facial features and being extra cautious can help reduce the risk of damage or injury here.

Most importantly..

Pugs are inevitably one of the cutest dogs ever, it would be harsh of me not to dress Bruno up once in a blue moon! Winter coat, jumpers and pyjamas he loves them all! Just look at him…
